2024 is just around the corner, and we can’t believe how fast this year has flown by! We saw plenty of eco-friendly printing, short-run designs, and a continuation of QR codes and printed materials that drive customers to digital assets. Some of those print design trends are expected to stay next year, but here are a few more that we’re keeping an eye on for 2024.
Natural materials to reinforce eco-friendly design
We’ve talked quite a bit about how much we love the eco-friendly nature of digital printing. In 2024, expect to see natural materials make their way into the design itself. Organic materials like unpolished cardboard and raw edged papers are expected to make a return as a way to reinforce that the print job prioritized sustainability.
Minimalism and efficient communication
We’d hoped that maximalism might make a return in design, but alas, no such luck in 2023. We think that the popularity of minimalism is just too strong. Because of that, we’ll see it continue to inform everything from sales documents to billboards. For the consumer, minimalism is an effective way to get company communications without a lot of fuss, so it makes sense why we’re continuing to see it.
Color palettes with energy
We’re almost 4 years post-pandemic but we still haven’t seen a downshift in vibrant colors. If design takes any cues from fashion, expect spring 2024 colors to be filled with vibrant pastels in print materials.
Custom fonts and typography
With the rise of Canva, it’s become easier for a lot of companies to have the same typography at their fingertips. The problem is that few companies stand out anymore through type. Because of that, we’re seeing more and more companies invest in graphic design that’s exclusive to their brand. Custom typography for logos and headlines on print materials help maintain the brand’s essence while ensuring that no one else is going to have that same look.
